TROISGROS

Settled on the banks of the Loire River, Roanne is a charming town that, in the recent years, has turned into a popular touristic spot and escape from the conventional French travel destinations. The town boasts with its unique architectural treasures, a lovely marina where visitors can go on boat rides and its unique town center, filled with shopping boutiques and inviting cafes. Roanne is also famous for its archaeological museum and Egyptian collections, but to most people the town means gastronomy. The city is the place where the culinary royals – the Troisgros Family – received 3 Michelin stars for their world-famous restaurant – La Maison Troisgros. And even though today the restaurant is closed, foodies from all over the world can taste the family’s incredible cuisine in their new Le Bois Sans Feuilles restaurant, located just outside the city of Roanne.

The Troisgros family

For over fifty years, the name Troisgros has been synonymous with exceptional cuisine and culinary geniuses. Three generations of world-renowned chefs have transformed their family into legends in the French gastronomical scene. In 1930, the original restaurant – Maison Troisgros – was opened by Jean-Baptiste Troisgros, then his two sons – Pierre and Jean – succeeded the family restaurant and now Michel – Pierre’s son took over the reins and continues to work on the legacy of his family. Holding 3 Michelin stars since 1968, the restaurant was transformed by Michel, who now runs the new family establishment – Le Bois Sans Feuilles – with his wife and son. A new chapter was opened and the risk he took definitely paid off.

Le Bois sans Feuilles

Leaving Roanne, the family set up in a charming estate in the French countryside, a few kilometres away from the city. The unique setting of the hotel and restaurant makes it a unique experience for every person who decides to dine in this 3 Michelin star establishment. And though Michel has moved away from his father’s path and carved out his own, the food in this restaurant has kept his high quality and uniqueness, combined with more modern and adventurous dishes. The cuisine is seasonal with superb ingredients, unique presentations and incredible balance between texture and flavour.
